Austin-based Freescale Semiconductor has named a new director to the firm's board, saying that it has named J. Daniel McCranie as a board member. McCranie is Chairman of ON Semiconductor, and serves on the board of Cypress Semiconductor. McCranie also has previously served on the boards of Actel Corporation, Virage Logic, SiSinc Semiconductor, Xicor Semiconductor, ASAT Holdings, and California Microdevices.
