    Dell EMC Spins Out Spanning In Deal With Insight Venture Partners
    Austin-based Spanning Cloud Apps is an independent company, once again, only two years after its acquisition by EMC. Spanning, which is a provider of backup for cloud-based applications, was acquired by EMC in October of 2014. Spanning has been acquired by Insight Venture Partners, and will become a new, independent company. Financial terms of the spinout were not announced.     Experiment Engine Acquired By Optimizely
    Austin-based Experiment Engine, a developer of A/B testing tools which helps develops test different versions of their websites, has been acquired by Optimizely, the companies said on Wednesday. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Experiment Engine says it has been working with Optimizely as a technology partner since its beginning.     SoftNAS Wins Brainshark
    Houston-based cloud-based, network attached storage (NAS) software provider SoftNAS reported a win this week with Brainshark, a provider of sales enablement and readiness software. SoftNAS said Brainshark will use SoftNAS Cloud for its disaster recovery using the Azure cloud. Financial impact of the win was not announced. SoftNAS said that Brainshark is tapping the firm for 100TB of cloud NAS storage.

    Dallas Gets New Car Vending Machine From Carvana
    Dallas is the latest city in Texas to get a "car vending machine" from online used car upstart Carvana. Carvana said its new car vending machine in Dallas is its fourth in the state, and will let users pick up their new vehicle purchases from an eight story building holding up to 30 cars.
