Rackspace Buys Cloud Software Tools Developer
San Antonio-based Rackspace Hosting is continuing its drive into the cloud software market, with the acquisition of a developer of cloud-based software tools. The firm said today that it has acquired Exceptional Cloud Services, a developer of tools for error tracking and more for application devleopers, to enhance its toolset for developers deploying and managing applications in the open cloud. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Rackspace said that Exceptional Cloud Services' tools are used by more than 50,000 application devleopers. The products developed by the firm include Exceptional.io, a web application tracking service; Airbrake.io, an error collection applications; and Redis To Go. The company said those tools are being used by such customers as Exec, Groupon, HotelTonight, Oracle, TaskRabbit and Zendesk, along with many startups.
