WhiteFence Acquires ConnectUtilities
WhiteFence, a Web site that allows consumers to comparison shop for residential services and utilities, announced Thursday that it has acquired competitor ConnectUtilities. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but WhiteFence said it will immediately integrate ConnectUtilities into its growing family of Web sites. In May, WhiteFence reported the conclusion of its second round of private equity funding, which generated some $14 million for the Houston-based company. WhiteFence's flagship Web site enables consumers to compare and order home services such as electricity, natural gas, telephone, cable and broadband Internet. The firm is venture backed by Adams Street Partners and Internet Capital Group.
