Dell Slashes Staff

Round Rock, Texas-based Dell announced its results late Thursday, and said that it is planning to cut 10 perecent of its headcount, around 8,800 jobs, in a bid to cut costs at the firm. The company said that the cuts will come over the next 12 months, and will vary across geographic regions, customer segments, and functions. Dell reported preliminary results, saying it had revenues of $14.6 billion and operating income of $947 million in the first quarter.
