ACS Closes $42M Cash Buy of Transportation Management Systems

Dallas-based business process outsourcing firm Affiliated Computer Services announced Monday that its acquisition of Transportation Management Systems has closed. ACS originally revealed its intention to purchase TMS from Orbital Sciences Corp. on April 17. According to ACS, the final transaction price was $42 million in cash. Formerly a business unit of Orbital Sciences Corp., TMS provides global positioning system-based fleet management software and related hardware. TMS' systems combine satellite navigation and wireless communications to enable transit authorities to manage and dispatch public transit and highway service vehicles.
