Big in Japan Raises $700K

Dallas-based Big in Japan, which develops mobile applications, has raised $700K in a seed financing round, the firm told Texastechpulse Wednesday. According to Big in Japan, the funding came from Architel LP. Big in Japan develops mobile phone applications, including ShopSavvy, which was a recent winner in Google's Android Challenge. Big in Japan's ShopSavvy application allows consumers to scan barcodes using a phone's built-in camera, and searches for prices, reviews, and other information on those products. Architel is a provider of IT services, and is headed by Big in Japan co-founder Alexander Muse. Muse also operates the Texas Startup Blog. More information »
