The Planet Opens Storage Cloud

Houston-based The Planet, a provider of IT hosting services, said this morning that it has opened up general availability of the firm's Storage Cloud service. The Planet's storage cloud product allows users to store their file data on the Internet. The Planet said it will offer its customers storage options in Dallas, locations on the East Coast, West Coast, Europe, or Asia, as well as through cloud storage firm Nirvanix. The storage is billed depending on usage. The Planet is targeting the service for use by storage intensive web sites, and customers looking for disaster recovery and backup.
