NetQOS Targets Virtualization Market
Austin's NetQOS, a developer of network performance management software, said Monday at the kick off of VMworld that the firm has added support for server virtualization in its software. According to NetQOS, its new offerings include a software-only version of its NetQoS Performance Center application which runs on VMware, Microsoft, or Citrix servers; new ability to pull information from VMware's virtual network switch, VMware vSwitch; and retrieval of data from VMware's vCenter API. The firm said the addition of virtual server support will allow its clients to collect and analyze application response times in both virtual and physical environments. Virtual servers combine several virtual, running images of a standard operating system on a single, physical server, helping to reduce the amount of equipment and make it easier to manage data centers. VMware is one of the leading firms in the segment, and kicked off its VMworld user conference Monday. The tools from NetQOS are used for monitoring application and network performance and health.
