Dell Buys 3PAR

Round Rock-based Dell announced this morning it is in an agreement to acquired virtualized storage firm 3PAR. The deal is worth approximately $1.15 billion. 3PAR develops storage virtualization technology, used in virtualized data centers and cloud computing. According to Dell, the acquisition will accelerate its delivery of open, capable, and affordable storage options. Dell said that it will continue to maintain and invest in additional engienering and sales capability at 3PAR's Fremont, California headquarters, and that it has no plans to move operations.
