SureGrid In Pilot With Tennessee Valley Authority
Austin-based SureGrid, a developer of load management technology for the energy utility industry, reported this week that it has inked a pilot deal with the Tennessee Valley Authority. SureGrid said it has entered into a two year pilot program, where its technology will be used for demand-side management. SureGrid's product gives utilities electric load management capability, which is used to reduce demand on utility resources during peak demand times. SureGrid said it expects its pilot to reduce peak power demand and generate equivalent power of up to 4,000 homes on the hottest day fo the year. Financial terms of the pilot were not announced. SureGrid's products help utilities operate demand-side management programs, where--in exchange for reduced rates--customers agree to allow utilities to shut down or shift loads such as air conditioning and other equipment.
