Groupon Hits Amarillo

Daily deals site Groupon is further expanding in Texas, saying Wednesday that it has launched its services in Amarillo. The firm said the city is its ninth market in Texas, joining existing services in Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Fort Worth, El Paso, Corpus Christi and Lubbock. Groupon offers up daily email deals from local vendors, offering up group buys if a minimum number of people agree to purchase deals; the firm's services have become widely popular nationally, spawning hundreds of imitators, and the firm itself is reportedly in the midst of possible acquisition talks with search engine giant Google.
