Sparefoot Dangles $5,000 Student Scholarship
How do you get students thinking about using your service? In the case of Austin-based SpareFoot, you dangle a $5,000 scholarship--plus free storage--to college students. SpareFoot announced its Spare Funds Scholarship today, saying that it will give one college student $5,000 in tuition plus free storage, just for searching for, comparing, and reserving a local storage unit online at the site. The startup itself came out of the experience of its two founders, former UCLA students Chuck Gordon and Mario Feghal, who came up with the idea for the company while Chuck was looking for affordable storage before studying abroad in Singapore. The company said the deadline for applying for the scholarship is June 1st.
