Austin Ventures Backs Huge Domain Name Startup

Austin Ventures is one of the key backers of a huge, new domain registrar startup, Donuts Inc., which said today that it has raised $100M to apply for an operate 307 new top level domains (TLDs). The firm, headed by former Demand Media President and Chief Strategy Officer Paul Stahura, is looking to take advantage of the brand new plan by the ICANN to open up nearly any TLD beyond the usual .COM, .NET, .CO, and other extensions used by companies in their domain names. Austin Ventures was joined by Adams Street Partners, Emergence Capital Partners, TOL Ventures, Generation Partners, and Stahurricane in the funding. More information »
