Steep Drop In Texas Venture Investments, As Firms Raise $127.7M In Q3 2012
Venture funding numbers from the latest PricewaterhouseCoopers/National Venture Capital Association MoneyTree report shows a steep dropoff in the amount of venture capital raised in Texas in Q3, with only 35 deals worth a total of $127.7M tallied by the report. The amount is down significantly from Q3 of 2011, when there were 42 deals and $613.4M invested in the state, and also down from Q2 of this year, when 38 deals totaling $179.5M was invested here.
Nationally, venture capital activity also declined both in dollars and deals in Q3. The report found that Vc activity declined 11 percent in dollars and five percent in terms of deals nationally, compared to the second quarter of 2012, totaling $6.5 billion in 890 deals.
