ZS Pharma Lands Huge, $46M Funding Round

Fort Worth-based ZS Pharma has raised a huge, $46M funding round, for its efforts to treat patients with kidney and liver disease. The pharmaceuticals developer said the Series C financing was led by Alta Partners, and also included Venture Partners, 3x5 Special Opportunity Partners, Salem Partners as well as Devon Park Bioventures. The firm said the funding goes towards its trials of its product. The firm, which is led by Dr. Al Guillem, has previously raised funding from the Texas Emerging Technology Fund, and also is an acceleration client of TECH Fort Worth. As part of the new funding, Robert Alexander of Alta Partners and John McKearn of RiverVest Venture Partners join the company's board. More information »
