Appro Acquired By Supercomputer Maker Cray
Appro International, a provider of clustered, high performance computing products which has its Advanced Computing Center in Houston, has been acquired by supercomputer maker Cray. Cray said it would pay $25M in cash for Appro, and hire approximately 90 Appro employees as part of the acquisition. Cray did not say how many employees it is hiring from Cray's Houston location, or what it plans to do with those operations. Appro is based in Silicon Valley, and Cray is in Seattle. Appro says that it conducts regional sales, support, benchmarking and software development at its Houston location.
