CyrusOne Launches Its Own Internet Exchange
Dallas-based data center provider CyrusOne announced today that it has launched its own, Internet exchange, which it is billing the CyrusOne Texas Internet Exchange. According to CyrusOne, the new statewide exchange provides connections between all of its metro-enabled sites. The firm said the exchange allows its customers to establish robust, low-latency, multi-point connections between a broad range of facilities or centers, and frees them from having to choose between telecom carriers housed within a specific physical facility. Internet Exchanges typically are used to connect multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs), letting them exchange traffic directly rather than through third party, telecom providers; that typically results in lower latency and much lower costs for those ISPs.
