Rackspace Launches Big Data Software Service

San Antonio-based Rackspace Hosting launched a brand new offering today, a new big data product based on Apache Hadoop. Rackspace said its new Rackspace service is running on the Hortonworks Data Platform, and allows users to run Big Data applications in hosted environments or the Rackspace public cloud. Apached Hadoop is a widely used open source project used by many companies to run "big data" queries against their business data.
