Silvercar Launches In Los Angeles
Austin-based smartphone-driven car rental service SilverCar, which is headed by Luke Schneider, has launched into its newest market today, Los Angeles. Silvercar said it launched operations today at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), its sixth location nationwide. Silvercar--which is backed by Austin Ventures, CrunchFund, SV Angel, and others--offers up a service which lets users both book and return rental cars via their smartphone, offering up tech-friendly, Audi A4's with in-car WiFi, built in GPS, SiriusXM satellite radio, and other features. The company also uses things like QR codes to unlock cars for rentals.
