Tech Wildcatters, SURGE Accelerator Among Top Startup Accelerators

Two, Texas-based startup accelerators--Tech Wildcatters and SURGE Accelerator--are among the top accelerators in the nation, according to a report released by two professors at SXSW. The report said that Tech Wildcatters was number 8 in the nation, and Surge Accelerator number 9, ranked by portfolio exits, valuation, follow on rounds, and companies still in operation. DreamIt Ventures, which ran a class in Austin at Capital Factory last year, was listed at number 15 in the ranking. The report came from Professor Yael Hochberg of the MIT Sloan School of Management and Professor Susan Cohen of the University of Richmond. The top startup accelerator in the nation was Silicon Valley's Y Combinator.
