Amazon Expands Sunday Delivery To Texas
Texas is the major beneficiary of an expansion this morning by Amazon.com, which says it will start delivering orders from the company on Sundays--thanks to a partnership with the United States Postal Service--across six cities in Texas. Amazon said it will start immediately delivering packages on Sunday in Austin, College Station, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Waco -- along with nine other cities across the US -- as an expansion of a Sunday delivery program which had previously only been available in Los Angeles and New York. The USPS is using the Sunday delivery for Amazon as a way to try to gain some market share from UPS and FedEx, and to help stem declining volumes at the post office.
