Is Austin's Booming Tech Industry Hurting Musicians?

While almost no one can complain about the benefit of Austin's booming tech industry and innovation to jobs and the economy, the booming growth here has had an unfortunate side effect: it's making it hard for musicians to live in Austin. The Wall Street Journal takes a look at how Austin's growth has been impacting musicians here, by driving up costs for everyone from musicians to club owners. According to the WSJ, in the article published today, there has been "collapsing affordability" in Austin, where more than 20 percent of musicians live below the poverty line.
