VolunteerSpot Picks Up $1.3M

Austin-based VolunteerSpot, which provides an online event planning and coordination service aimed at parents, teachers, and volunteers at schools, said today that it has raised $1.3M in a funding round. The funding was led by AXA Strategic Ventures. VolunteerSpot is led by Karen Bantuveris. According to AXA Strategic Ventures, Manish Agarwal, a General Partner at the company, will join VolunteerSpot's board. VolunteerSpot's online service helps teachers and schools better engage with parents, and helps coordinate signups for classroom volunteers, with fundraising, and other activities, including taking donations, synchronizing calendars, and purchasing tickets.
