AT&T Completes Quickplay Buy

Dallas-based AT&T/,a> says it has completed its acquisition over over-the-top (OTT) video platform developer Quickplay Media, which had been owned by private equity investor Madison Dearborn Partners. Financial details of the acquisition, which had originally been announced on May 16th, were not announced. At&T said it plans to retain Quickplay's team of more than 350 employees and contractors. Quickplay is the developer behind AT&T's own U-verse TV Everywhere offering, and also is a key part of AT&T's about-to-be-launched DIRECTV Now, DIRECTV Mobile and DIRECTV Preview Internet video streaming services, which are expected to debut later this year.
