Omnitracs: Truck Automation Will Bolster Safety, Efficiency

Dallas-based fleet management software developer Omnitracs says that its investment in commercial truck automation technology developer Peloton promises to help improve both safety and efficiency in the trucking industry. Peloton Technology officially announced a $60M, Series B funding round today, led by Omnitracs, which will go to bringing automated vehicle technologies to market. Peloton's first product links together commercial trucks in a "platoon", and enables dramatic fuel savings due to the ability to reduce drag on a vehicle through drafting. Omnitracs and Peloton said the two will also develop joint solutions that combine each company's safety, efficiency and fleet management capabilities. The funding had been disclosed last week.
