FoodMaven Comes To Dallas-Fort Worth
Food marketplace startup FoodMaven, which operates an online marketplace which helps local food suppliers sell their oversupplied or imperfect food to restaurants or institutional buyers, said this week that it has expanded its service to Dallas-Fort Worth. FoodMaven--which is based in Denver, Colorado--operates a marketplace which helps move food from food supplier to restaurants and institional buyers, donated to hunger-relief organizations, or to "environmentally conscious alternatives". FoodMaven said it selected the Dallas-Fort Worth area due to a "supportive business environment", desire for local food sourcing, and a "vibrant food culture." The expansion is the first in what it says is a nationwide expansion plan. FoodMaven is backed by angel investors, including Walter Robb, the former co-founder of Whole Foods Market.
