StreedCred Dangles $50K In Bitcoin For Mapping Out Austin

Crowdsourced mapping provider StreetCred says it is offering up a prize pool of $50,000 in Bitcoin, as part of a month long contest to encourage people to map out interesting points of interest in Austin. The company said the MapAustin contest will run through March, with a goal of mapping out 10,000 of the city's points of interesting--including shopping, dining, outdoors and recreation, and other destinations. StreetCred said the top performer in its contest will win 2 Bitcoin, or approximately $6,822. StreetCred is led by Randy Meech. The company is looking to curate and collect data and information on points of interest. The company already has been collecting data in a similar way in New York, during CES last year in Las Vegas, and has plans for other areas. The company said will split a total of 15 Bitcoinc among the top 50 participants in the crowdsourced mapping effort in Austin.
