Freescale Shows MEMs Sensors

Austin, Texas-based Freescale Semiconductor today has introduced three new MEMs sensors, targeted at use in smart mobile devices. The firm said today at CES that its new sensor devices are targeted at mobile devices like MP3 players, PDAs, and laptops. Freescale's sensors are used by hardware designers to enable more reliable and robust operation, by incorporating motion-sensing technology. The three new components provide a variety of selectable sensitivity to detect motion and vibration, and fall. The sensors are used by consumer hardware manufacturers to protect those devices against damage, such as parking hard drives when a fall is imminent.
