Sprint Nextel Selects Nokia For Texas WiMax Deployment
Sprint Nextel has awarded fellow telecommunications giant Nokia with the Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio and Austin markets for the initial build-out of the former's mobile WiMax network, Nokia announced Wednesday. Nokia will deploy WiMAX infrastructure, including the Nokia Flexi WiMAX Base Station, at sites throughout the four cities, enabling Sprint Nextel to deliver wireless Internet broadband access to consumers, businesses and governments. Service is expected to commence in 2008 and cover 100 million people nationwide by the end of that year.
