Philips to Acquire El Paso's XIMIS

Dutch electronics firm Royal Philips Electronics announced last weekthat it plans to acquire XIMIS Inc., a Texas-based provider of health care facility workflow systems. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Philips said it will incorporate XIMIS into the Healthcare Informatics business group of its Medical Systems division. XIMIS' key product is XIRIS, which stands for Extended Internet Radiology Information System. Philips explained that XIRIS helps manage patient registration, scheduling, exam tracking, reporting and staff and resource management. Philips added that XIRIS is a Web-based application that can scale from community hospitals to large, multiple-facilities hospitals. It is also available in international and multilingual versions, Philips said. XIMIS Inc. is headquartered in El Paso, Texas, and employs around 50 people.
