Freescale Looks To Sell UK Facilities

Austin, Texas-based Freescale has sold two of its wafer manufacturing facilities in the United Kingdom, the firm said Tuesday. The company said it is looking to sell its operational 150-mm semiconductor manufacturing facility in East Kilbride and a 200-mm wafer fabrication shell in Dunfermline, and has retained a commercial real estate firm, colliers ATREG, to assist in the sale. Freescale's East Kilbride facility produces automotive semiconductors and power devices for the communications industry; the firm's Dunfermline site was constructedin 1997 but has never been occupied.
