Black Sand Raises $8.2M, Names Diehl CEO
Black Sand Technologies Inc., a fabless semiconductor manufacturer of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for wireless applications, reported Monday that it has hired John Diehl as chief executive officer. Black Sand co-founder and acting CEO Dave Pietruszynski will remain with the Austin, Texas-based company as vice president of engineering. Prior to joining Black Sand, Diehl served as director of strategic business development for Freescale Semiconductor's Wireless and Mobile Solutions group. Before that, he was co-founder and CEO of PrairieComm Inc., Black Sand said. The company added that it recently concluded its initial round of venture financing after raising some $8.2 million. Austin Ventures led the effort, with participation by North Bridge Venture Partners. More information »
