Engineering Academy Honors TI's Hornbeck

Semiconductor manufacturer Texas Instruments Inc. reported Monday that the National Academy of Engineering has inducted TI Fellow Dr. Larry Hornbeck. TI explained that Hornbeck is best known for inventing and developing the Digital Micromirror Device, an optical semiconductor that forms the core of TI's Digital Light Processing technology for digital projection systems. TI said October marks the 20th anniversary of the first working DMD. TI said Hornbeck was among 64 new members and nine foreign associates inducted at a recent ceremony in Washington, D.C. Hornbeck has been with TI for more than 34 years, the company added. Texas Instruments is headquartered in Dallas.
