Oceaneering Opts for SolarWinds Software
SolarWinds, a publisher of Windows-based network management software, revealed yesterday that Houston-based Oceaneering International, a provider of engineered services and products to the offshore oil and gas industry, is using SolarWind's Orion Network Performance Monitor to help govern their local-area networks. SolarWind, which is headquartered in Austin, Texas, explained that Oceaneering maintains 85 offices and 10 offshore vessels worldwide, all of which need to communicate within themselves and with each other. Toward that end, Oceaneering's four-person IT department selected Orion to help them manage the company's 85 routers, 300 switches, 287 servers and 2,500-phone VOIP infrastructure. Financial terms of the win were not disclosed.
