Dallas-based broadband wireless firm Airband Communications said today that it is doubling its market reach in Baltimore, as part of a national expansion strategy. According to Airband, it is looking to double the total number of its WiMax base stations in the Baltimore/D.C. area. AirBand is developing a Wi-Max based wireless service focused on fixed-wireless networks for businesses. Airband has been in Baltimore since 2005, when it acquired a local fixed wireless firm in the area. The firm said that it will have 18 base stations in the area by the end of 2008.
