SemiSouth Moves To Austin
SemiSouth Laboratories, a firm which develops silicon carbide semiconductor technology, said Monday that it will move its headquarters to Austin. The firm, which was previously headquartered in Starkville, Mississippi, is a spinout of Mississippi State University. Vess Johnson, SemiSouth's Chief Executive Officer, said in a statement that the firm selected Austin because the firm believes it will "enhance our ability to expand and to draw key talent." The company says it plans to move sales and marketing immediately to Austin, and grow the group there through staffing of a design center. The firm will continue to operate a 20,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Starkville, Mississippi. SemiSouth is venture backed by Delta Capital Management, GulfSouth Capital, Mississippi Angel Fund, Schneider Electric Ventures, Southern Appalachian Fund, Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Co., and Starkville Technology Investments.
