SemiSouth's Carcass Being Sold Next Month
Once upon a time, SemiSouth represented the hopes and dreams of a new surge in the semiconductor industry in Austin. The firm--based in Starkville, Mississippi, but which had major operations in Texas--was developing silicon carbide semiconductors for power conversion and management. The firm quietly close its doors in October. Now, the remains of SemiSouth are being auctioned off by a pair of asset auction services on April 4th, with all of the firm's semiconductor manufacturing products -- electronic test equipment, semiconductor fab equipment, and more--being sold off to raise funds to pay off creditors. The firm had moved its headquarters to Austin back in 2008.
