Round Rock-based computer maker Dell said Tuesday that the firm has been selected in a high performance computing cluster (HPCC) deployment at Clemson University. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. Dell said that its machines will be used in Clemson's Palmetto Cluster, a group of 512 Dell PowerEdge 1950 servers capable of supporting 31 teraflops of computing capacity. According to Dell, the cluster is being used for academic research, ranging from studying migration patterns to the design of wireless communications networks.
