Austin To Get 30 Megawatt Solar Power Plant
Austin is slated to get a 30 megawatt, photovoltaic solar power plant, a solar power development firm said last week, as part of a deal with municipal electric utility Austin Energy. According to developer Gemini Solar Development Company LLC, it will build a 30MW solar power plan on 300 acres of land owned by the city, approximately 25 miles east of Austin. The plant will enter into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Austin Energy for 25 years. Gemini is a joint venture between PV panel manufacturer Suntech Power Holdings and MMA Renewables, a solar powr project financing firm.
