Ideal Power Rolls Out New Inverter

Austin-based Ideal Power, which develops solar energy conversion devices, has rolled out a new product today, called the SunDial solar power (PV) string inverter. The new product is being aimed at the industrial and commercial market. Ideal Power said its initial product is a 30kW system which outputs three phase, 480V power -- typically used in industrial equipment -- and also includes an energy storage option, which allows its customers to connect up a battery system to provide off-grid power. Pricing on the new produt was not announced. Solar power inverters as used to convert the direct current (DC) power present on solar panels into usage, alternating current (AC) power for most electrical equipment.
