Rackspace Opens Cloud API
San Antonio-based hosting provider Rackspace said today that the firm has opened up a beta of an application programming interface for the firm's Cloud Servers offering. The API allows Rackspace users to gain access to information about cloud-based computing instances running on Rackspace's service, and allows customers to also control and scale the number of server instances running in the cloud. The new API is based on the REST web services interface, and uses technology developed by Slicehost, which Rackspace bought in October of 2008.
