Univa Rolls Cloud Analytics Product
Austin-based Univa UD, a developer of software used for monitoring IT resources, has expanded the firm's product base into cloud computing analytics, the firm said Monday. Univa said its new software, UniPlan, can be used to ensure optical optimization of both cluster and cloud computing environments. The new tool helps plan out application workload and license distribution, particularly for technical computing applications like electronic design automation (EDA) and industrial manufacturing. Those products typically have a floating license which restricts which CPUs can use an application, and are usually shared among large companies depending on work load and need. Univa's software is used for high performance computing (HPC) clusters.
