SoftLayer Opens Private Cloud Service
Plano-based SoftLayer, a provider of IT hosting and related services, reported today that it has rolled out a private cloud offering, which provides cloud computing for companies without sharing physical computing hardware with other users. According to SoftLayer, the support it targeted at customers who need to run their applications in an isolated environment, but still want to use cloud computing services on an hourly or monthly basis. IT hosting providers have recently begun offering similar, private clouds to companies who want the flexibility of on-demand, cloud computing--but have fears about security or performance of the cloud.
