TXU Energy To Install 100,000 Smart Thermostats
Dallas-based TXU Energy said this week that it is targeting the installation of 100,000 smart thermometers in the state by 2012. According to TXU Energy, it has tapped Comverge, Inc. for the purchase, installation, and service of the devices, which are web-enabled, programmable thermostats. The thermostats allow consumers to remotely monitor and control the temperature of their homes and businsesses. TXU Energy explained that it has so far installed roughly 20,000 smart energy devices like the thermostat and a separate PowerMonitor device for monitoring energy usage.
