Dell Claims Gains In Reducing Packaging Waste
Round Rock-based Dell said today that it has eliminated use of about 18.2 million pounds of packaging, since 2008, as part of its corporate responsibility efforts. Dell said the gains came from reducing the size of product packaging and increased the amount of recycled content in its packaging, and is aimed at making its product packaging more convenient for customers and less impactful on the planet. The firm said recycled content in its packaging is now at approximately 32 percent, and about 57 percent of its packaging materials can be recycled curbside by customers.
