Houston Technology Future Fund Looks To Raise $100M

The Houston Technology Future Fund, a new venture capital firm, said Tuesday that it is aiming to raise $100M to invest in a 30-county region in Texas. The early stage venture fund said it will invest in aerospace, energy, information technology, life sciences, and nanotechnology sectors. Amount of existing commitments to the fund was not announced. The Houston Technology Future Fund said it has named John White, partner at Murphree Ventures, as CEO and General Partner. White was also previously Chairman of the board and CEO of private equity firm Standard Renewable Energy Group. In addition to White, the firm's investment committee includes Scott Crist, Managing Partner, Texas Ventures, J. Benton Mayberry, President, Winston Sage Partners, David McWilliams, Chair of the Board, BioHouston, Inc., and Dennis Murphree, Managing General Partner, Murphree Ventures. The fund is also being advised by the J. Downey Bridgwater and Walter Ulrich, both of the Houston Technology Center.
