WhaleShark Media Names Marketing VP

Austin-based WhaleShark Media announced today that it has named Jill Balis as its Senior Vice President, Marketing. The firm--which operates a network of coupons and deals sites, including RetailMeNot--said that Balis joins from SMG Search. Balis has also served at Orbitz Worldwide. WhaleShark said Balis has more than 17 years of experience in consumer marketing, analytics, customer acquisition and business development. WhaleShark is venture backed by Austin Ventures, Norwest Venture Partners, Adams Street Partners and Google Ventures.
