WhaleShark Media Names CFO, Hits $140M In Revenues
Austin-based coupon and deals website operator WhaleShark Media said Wednesday that it has named Douglas Jeffries as the firm's new Chief Financial Officer. Jeffries was most recently EVP and CFO at Taleo, the publicly traded software firm that was acquired last year by Oracle. Jeffries also served at Palm, Inc., eBay, and Price Waterhouse. Cotter Cunningham, CEO and Founder of WhaleShark, said the hire would help it deepen the experience of its executive management team. In an unusual move, WhaleShark publicly released its revenue numbers, saying it generated more than $140M in revenues in 2012; up significantly from numbers released in 2010, when it had somewhere between $30M and $50M in revenues, according to a number of reports. WhaleShark also said it had more than 450 million visits to its websites in 2012. The addition of Jeffries hints at some grander plans for WhaleShark, particularly with the firm's rapid growth in revenues.
