Michael Dell's MSD Capital Backs Web Software Firm
A Russian company developing open source, web server software--NGINX--has scored an investment from the private investment firm of Michael S. Dell, the founder, Chairman, and CEO of Dell Computer. NGINX said Tuesday that it had raised $3M in a Series A funding round for the company, which came from MSD Capital, the private investment firm of Michael Dell, along with BV Capital and Runa Capital. NGINX develops open source, web server software aimed at particularly high volume websites, and counts among its customers Facebook, Zappos, Groupon, LivingSocial, Hulu, and Wordpress.
